Okay from what i learned in section 1.2.1 Antibiotic Therapy was that there are several low dose antibiotics such as (tetracylines, flurorquinolones, etc.) can be used to treat infections and diseases. This kind of thereapy is useful in patients with short term illnesses as well as patients with a long term diseases.
In section 1.2.2 Attack Of The Superbugs, is where we learned that bacteria can become resistant to antibiotics and be very hard to get rid of. When a baterial strain has become resistant to a certain antibiotic doctors and scientists alike must figure out how to get rid of thise infection immediately or the spread of this disease could be fatal for many people. I had M.R.S.A for example and it was restistant to penicillin, amoxacillin, and oxacillin, if there wasn't a cure found for the horrible skin rash then patients that had it would utterly be doomed.
In section 1.2.3 When Antibiotics Fail, we heard a story about a man on a chicken farm that got very sick from eating chicken that had been infected. The farmer treated his chickens for this disease and since he had been giving his chickens an antibiotic for a long time the bateria had become immune to the antibiotic so anyone who ate the chickens became infected without knowing. He was so sick that he almost died, but fortunatly he lived and regained full recovery. But this is important to note that you shouldn't use antibiotics anytime you get sick because then that bacteria can become resistant to your medicine and then you wouldn't get better by using the same medicine over and over again.
